How to share your cellular data connection over Bluetooth

How to share your cellular data connection over Bluetooth

To use the shared data connection over Bluetooth, the device youre using must support the Bluetooth Personal Area Network User (PANU) role. To find out if your Bluetooth device supports this, check the documentation that came with it or check the manufacturers website. To learn more about Bluetooth personal area networks (PAN) in general, check out the Microsoft Windows website.

Pair your phone with the Bluetooth device and connect to it over Bluetooth.

In the App list, tap Settings  > Internet sharing.

Tap Share over, and then tap Bluetooth.

Set Sharing to On.

You can also start sharing over Bluetooth even when Sharing is turned off. Just connect your device to your phone over Bluetooth, and then Sharing will turn on automatically.

Tip
Trying to decide which connection to share over? First, it depends on the device and whether it lets you connect to a shared connection over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. If it lets you choose either type of connection, consider how much bandwidth and coverage youll need. If youre doing something that requires a lot of bandwidth, such as watching streaming video, or when you need a wider range of coverage, consider using Wi-Fi. On the other hand, if youre doing something that doesnt use a lot of data, such as email, social networking, or just casually browsing the web, sharing over Bluetooth can work well for that and can help make your battery last a little longer compared to using Wi-Fi.

Note

  • To share your cellular data connection, this feature must be available from your mobile operator and enabled on your current phone plan. This is also known as tethering or hotspot and often costs extra.
  • When you and others use the shared connection on another device, it uses data from your cellular data plan. You should be aware of any data limits you have on your plan, so you arent charged extra.
  • If youre sharing your connection over Wi-Fi and then a Bluetooth device that can use a shared data connection connects to your phone, sharing will automatically switch to Bluetooth if the Allow Bluetooth devices to switch sharing from Wi-Fi to Bluetooth check box is selected. If you dont select the check box, you can still switch to Bluetooth, but youll be prompted first.
  • When youre sharing your cellular data connection, you wont be able to use a Wi-Fi or VPN connection on your phone.
  • The top of the screen has icons that tell you a lot about your phoneincluding information related to connection sharing. When youre sharing your cellular data connection, the Internet sharing  Internet sharing icon appears at the top of the screen on the status bar. See What do the icons on my phone mean? for more info about this icon and others that might appear on the status bar.

IE6 finally falls below 5 market share but IE up overall as Firefox and Chrome dip

IE6 finally falls below 5 market share but IE up overall as Firefox and Chrome dip

The third quarter of 2013?s browser war is now over. September saw the sixth full month of IE10 availability on Windows 7, as well as the release of Firefox 24 and one full month of Chrome 29 availability. The latest market share numbers from Net Applications show Internet Explorer was the biggest winner last month.

Between August and September, IE gained 0.19 percentage points (from 57.60 percent to 57.79 percent), Firefox slipped 0.22 percentage points (from 18.80 percent to 18.58 percent), and Chrome dipped 0.02 percentage points (from 16.00 percent to 15.98 percent). Safari meanwhile gained 0.18 percentage points to 5.77 percent and Opera slipped 0.06 percentage points to 1.47 percent.

At 57.79 percent, Internet Explorer has hit a new high for the year. January was the first time the browser went back above the 55 percent mark, and while the next few months have shown it wont be losing that crown anytime soon, it still has a long way to go before the 60 percent mark.

At 19.45 percent in September, IE10 has slowed its growth, although it has still managed to grab another 0.80 percent share. Meanwhile, IE9 has regained 0.43 percentage points, to 9.45 percent. Soon IE11 will be following in its predecessors footsteps, given that it will be available for both Windows 7 and Windows 8.

IE8 meanwhile slipped 0.26 percentage points, but its still the worlds most popular browser at 21.39 percent. The real tragedy here is that IE10 is mainly stealing share from IE9 on Windows 7, since Windows XP users cant upgrade past IE8.

IE7 was down 0.17 percentage points to 1.37 percent and IE6 slipped a huge 1.22 percentage points to 4.86 percent. This means it has finally fallen below the 5 percent mark, which we werent expecting till sometime later this year.

At 18.58 percent, Firefox seems to be maintaining its new low. The last three months aside, the last time we saw the browser at 18 percent was way back in May 2008. Firefox 24 was just released, so it only managed to grab 2.17 percent share, while Firefox 23 hit 11.57 percent. All the other versions lost share: Firefox 22 fell 6.14 points, Firefox 21 lost 0.15 points, and Firefox 20 dipped 0.06 points.

At 15.98 percent, Chrome is close to its 21-month low in May. Chrome 29 grabbed 12.82 percentage points after being available for a full month. All other versions were down or flat: Chrome 28 lost 9.13 points, Chrome 27 slipped 0.21 points, while Chrome 26 and Chrome 25 lost a combined 0.03 points.

Net Applications uses data captured from 160 million unique visitors each month by monitoring some 40,000 websites for its clients. StatCounter is another popular service for watching market share moves; the company looks at 15 billion page views. To us, it makes more sense to keep track of users than page views.

Nevertheless, for September 2013, StatCounter listed Chrome as first with 40.80 percent market share, IE in second with 28.56 percent, Firefox in third with 18.36 percent, Safari with 8.52 percent, and Opera with 1.16 percent. The only part everyone agrees on is that Safari and Opera are not in the top three.

How to make an Android app easily for your website blog and share it in an Application store

How to make an Android app easily for your website blog and share it in an Application store

how to create android app for my website

If you own a website, whether a business site, blog or any other type, at some point of time you might have searched in Google on How to increase your sites traffic. That is because traffic plays an important role in the sustainment of a website. You might be a person who have struggled a lot to get some traffic or someone who realized its importance just after reading this. Whoever you are keep in mind that you should always research on utilising available resources to gain traffic to your website. For your knowledge website traffic is mainly classified into three.

Types of website traffic

Direct Traffic

Direct traffic is that traffic you usually get from your regular readers. In other words,  if a person types your website URL directly in the browser to visit your website or use a bookmark, it is called direct traffic. In order to get such type of traffic you should keep in mind certain factors.

  • Your domain should be something striking and easy to remember.
  • Domain name should be related to your niche.
  • Try to avoid using sub-domains.
  • Avoid using long and confusing names

Sharing quality and useful posts regularly will eventually gain you some readers who contribute more to direct traffic.

Search Traffic

The traffic that you attain from different search engines are called Search Traffic. It is the most important source of traffic for your website. You will have to gain some knowledge in Search Engine Optimisation(SEO) in order to get properly benefitted from search engines like Google, Bing etc.

Other Traffic

All blog visits apart from Search and Direct sources will come under this classification. It can be from other blogs, forums, social networks or any other sources. YouTube can also plays a major role in building traffic as it is the most used search engine after Google. You will need to learn to use these services in an efficient way to make them generate traffic for you. Traffic from Android app also comes under this category. But developing an Android app is not at all easy as it sounds. You should have some programming skills in Java and certain other fields as well. And that is not everyones cup of tea. The next option available is to shed some money by hiring a developer to create an app for your site. That is the best option if you have enough fund. But what if you are on a tight budget or have no plan to hire a developer?  Then you are in the right place. Below you will learn to create a simple Android app to open your website link directly in a phones browser. I bet this is the easiest method as it is done completely online and you wont need any coding or such stuffs.

Creating  an App

The app created will be more like a bookmark rather than a normal Android app. The end result will be an apk file that can be installed on any Android device. I have found half a dozen of websites for creating android apps online but i recommend the best one ive found. I prefer this because there wont be any Ads of the website in the app generated. Not just that, the app will be less that 100kb in size!

STEPS:

Open Makeapk.com in your browser. In the first pace you will notice that the site is not complicated at all. You can complete the whole process in the first page itself.

  • Enter your website URL
  • Enter title (this will be the name of the app)
  • Give email ID
  • Select a default icon or provide an icon of your choice.(if you dont have an icon now just use any of the icons listed. I will explain an easy way to change the icon without corrupting the file).
  • Press Submit and you are good to go. Simply download your official Android App.

Upload your App to an App store

Thats it, you have just successfully created your Android app. You can now share your app with your friends or your regular readers. But its more important to share it in a reputed application store so that your app will be available to a whole lot of users worldwide. You can select any third party stores of your choice.

In case of Opera Mobile Store, you will need to create a developer account first. PRESS HERE to sign up for a free publisher account with Opera Store. Read the simple instructions to upload your apk file. Your app will be available for download after it is verified which usually takes 12 hours. You will be notified via email.

opera store

If you have created your First Android app for your app, you can share its link in the comment section below. Sharing is caring, so do share this with others.

How to Quickly Share Wi Fi From Your Laptop With Virtual Access Point

How to Quickly Share Wi Fi From Your Laptop With Virtual Access Point

How to Quickly Share Wi-Fi From Your Laptop With Virtual Access Point

I love to play games on my Android smartphone and I use my 3G connection to download them. But some games require you to connect using Wi-Fi before you can download them. Previously, I didnt have a Wi-Fi router in my house, and neither did my smartphone support Ad-Hoc network (until you root it and apply a patch), and that was the reason I was looking for a way to create a virtual access point using my laptop that could then share the internet wirelessly.
There are some tools like Connectify and Virtual Router that claim to provide a solution to the above problem but to me they created additional problems rather than solving the one I have. Soon after I installed Connectify, I started having random crashes with the infamous Blue Screen Of Death.
Luckily I came across a web service called Virtual Access Point (found on Raymonds blog) that offers an easy solution using the built-in Virtual Wi-Fi technology in Windows 7. So lets see how we can create a virtual access point and share the internet connection without breaking a sweat.
To begin, visit Virtual Access Point and type in a SSID (any name) and a password (minimum eight characters) and click on the button Turn On Soft AP. Also make sure you have the latest version of Java Runtime Environment installed on your system because it needs Java to work
                                                                            OR
VIRTUAL ROUTER PLUS    This is easy way.Try this

When the Virtual Access Point page asks you whether you want to run the Java Runtime Environment on the page, check the always trust option and click on the Run Button. The tool will now create a virtual wireless network connection using the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter.

Once the access point is up and running its now time to share the internet connection. To share the internet connection to the newly created access point open Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network Connections. You can also open it directly using the link present on the Virtual Access Point home page right after you create a new access point.

Now right-click on the newly created virtual adapter and click Properties.

Under the Sharing tab check the option Allow other network users to connect through this computers Internet connection and select the connection you want to share. Now click on the OK button and confirm your actions.

Your internet connection will be shared instantly. I tested the newly created access point on my smartphone and I could connect to the internet without any problem.

Once you are done, click on Turn Off Soft AP button on the Virtual Access Point page.
From now on, whenever you create the virtual access point, the internet will be shared by default. If anytime in the future you want to revoke the sharing on the internet, you can do that by changing the properties of the virtual adapter.

How to Share Laptop Internet Turn Laptop into a WiFi Hotspot

How to Share Laptop Internet Turn Laptop into a WiFi Hotspot

Wants to share your internet from laptop via WiFi to other compatible devices? You can turn your laptop into a WiFi Hotspot to wirelessly share any Internet connection: a cable modem, a cellular card, or even another Wi-Fi network to other WiFi device like laptop, desktop or mobile phones. Take any internet connection and share it wirelessly with any number of devices with no additional hardware.

Connectify is a free and easy to use software router for Windows 7 computers. After downloading and installing the lightweight application, Connectify utilizes your computers built in Wi-Fi card to wirelessly share any available Internet connection: a cable modem, a cellular card, or even another Wi-Fi network. Other Wi-Fi enabled devices including laptops, smart phones, music players, and gaming systems can see and join your Connectify hotspot just like any other Wi-Fi access point and are kept safe and secure by password-protected WPA2 Encryption. With Connectify you can share expensive airport Wi-Fi with co-workers, create a hotspot in your ethernet-only hotel or dorm room, even extend the range of your home router. The possibilities are endless.
With ADSL/DSL internet connection, we tend to have a modem / router to connect laptops / computers to the internet. The problem arises when we want to connect through a wireless mobile device and we want to use internet on it using our ADSL/DSL connection, we can not connect the mobile device through the ethernet cable. It can only be connected wirelessly. Here is a software based solution. Connectify is a software based wireless router which turns laptop wireless into a full blown WiFi hotspot so that other wireless devices can connect to it for using the internet. It will work for Windows 7 based Laptops only.

Connectify Version 2.2.0 - 2.2.0.18699:
~Updated look and feel
~Installer should no longer be incorrectly flagged by Microsoft ~Security Essentials
~Fixed Windows XP SP3 clients not receiving DNS addresses (caused by this Windows bug: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953761)
~Fixed handling of incorrect DNS NXDomain from some name servers
~Support for more VPN software (OpenVPN)
~Better memory and resource handling, especially while using UPnP
~More icons and names for vendors

How to Share Internet Connection Wirelessly Using Connectify:
~To get started, click on the Connectify icon in the Notification Tray.
~Select the Internet connection you wish to share
~Choose a name for your new wireless network
~Choose a wireless passphrase
~If the Mode box is visible, select Access Point if it is in the menu, otherwise, use Ad Hoc.
~Press the Start Hotspot Sharing button to turn on your wireless network
~Now from your other devices, you can see your wireless network. Choose to join it, and enter the wireless passphrase to connect.
