Impressive results of the Biscuit Poll

Impressive results of the Biscuit Poll

We asked you to cast your votes, and you responded in your thousands, hoorah! So now we can reveal the results of your favourite biscuits, your most regularly eaten biscuit and which one you really cant stand.
You might want to make yourself a particularly comforting cup of tea as the results are bound to be shocking and provocative or mildly dull depending on how seriously you take biscuit popularity polls. Be forewarned gazing upon such ultimate truths may forever alter the course of your life, then again it may not.
  • Digestives scored top in a our regulars but only 15th place in favourites. 92% of Digestive eaters would rather eat something else.
  • The same pattern is repeated in the Rich Tea, 5th in the regulars but 28th in the favourites and 93% of Rich tea eaters would rather something else.
  • Custard Cream and Bourbon eaters are much more satisfied with their chosen biscuits, with 2 out of 3 choosing it as their favourite as well as their regular.
  • When we factor in loyalty, that is the ratio of favourite to regular, we find the Chocolate Digestives rule the regulars and Chocolate Hobnobs the favourites
  • The Dark Choco Liebniz puts in an impressive 3rd place in favourites when we factor in loyalty
  • My favourite the Abbey Crunch despite not being available for two years pulls in more favourite votes than the Penguin, Cadburys Fingers, Viscount and Rocky.
  • No surprise that the Pink Wafer is the yukkiest of all, but what have the poor old Fig Roll and Wagonwheel done to deserve 2nd and 3rd place?
  • Coconut biscuits take 10,11 and 12th place in the yukkiest, with the poorly named Nice heading them up.

How to track the original location of an email via its IP address

How to track the original location of an email via its IP address

Heres a quick how-to guide on how you can track email to its originating locationby figuring out the emails IP address and looking it up. I have found this to be quite useful on many occasions for verification purposes since I receive lots of emails daily due to my blog. Tracking the IP address of an email sender does require looking at some technical details, so be ready to dig your heels in!
There are basically two steps involved in the process of tracking an email: find the IP address in the email header section and then look up the location of the IP address.

Finding the IP address of an email sender in GMail, Yahoo Mail, and Outlook

Lets go ahead and take a look at how you would do this for Google, Yahoo and Outlook since those are the most popular email clients
Googles Gmail
1. Log into your account and open the email in question.
2. Click on the down arrow thats to the right of the Reply link. Choose Show Original from the list.
Now heres the technical part that I was telling you about earlier! You need to look for the lines of text that start with Received: from. It might be easier to simply press Cntrl + F and perform a search for that phase. Youll notice that there are several Received Froms in the message header. This is because the message header contains the IP addresses of all of servers involved in routing that email to you.
To find the first computer that originally sent the email, youll have to find the Received From thats farthest DOWN. As you can see from the above image, the first one is from a computer called aseem with the IP address 72.204.154.191. Then it was routed to my ISPs server at eastrmmtao104.cox.net and so on and so forth till it got to your email server.
The computer aseem is my personal home computer and thats my public IP address for my house! Ill go through Yahoo and Outlook before talking about tracking the location of that IP address.
Yahoo Mail Beta
1. Log into your account and open the email (if youre using Yahoo Mail Beta with the new preview interface, make sure you double-click on the email so that it opens in a new tab)
2. At the top right, youll see there is a drop-down option where Standard Headeris selected by default.
3. Click on it and choose Full Header.
Again, youll see the same information as before, just in a different window:
Microsoft Outlook
1. Open the email in Outlook by double-clicking on it
2. Go to View at the top menu (the menu options for the email, not the main Outlook window) and choose Options.
Youll get a dialog box where you can set the message options and at the bottom youll see the Internet Headers box. For some silly reason, the box is very small and you have to scroll a lot, so its best to simply copy and paste the text into Notepad to view it more easily.

Tracking the location of an IP address

Now that we have our originating IP address of 72.204.154.191, lets find out where that is! You can do this by perform a location lookup on the IP address. My favorites are IP2Location and GeoBytes IP Locator.
GeoBytes gave me a big map of New Orleans, LA along with a bunch of other information about the location itself.
IP2Location also gave me the same information pretty much, including the ISP (Cox Communications). Of course, this is correct since I live in New Orleans!
If you want more information, you can do a WHOIS database search also. My favorite one is the ARIN WHOIS Database Search. This will give you information on who hosts that IP address and their registration information. You can always contact them to try and find more information on that particular IP address.
Have fun tracking down those emails! Questions, comments, or suggestions? Post a comment!

How to Get the Most Out of Google AdWords For 2015

How to Get the Most Out of Google AdWords For 2015

Some would say if youre just now looking to best practices for 2015, then youre behind the trend and behind your competition. But its better late than never. Who knows? Maybe your competitors are just as busy as you and havent found time to get up to speed with online marketing. I run into it all the time. Here is your chance to make a New Years Resolution and get even better with Google AdWords. So what are the best practices for Google AdWords in 2015? Lets dig into it.

What Should I Spend?

How successful do you want to be? Have you heard the phrase you get more of what you focus on? The amount of money you are willing to invest in your AdWords campaign is a key factor of what you can expect to receive. I am going out on a limb here and will say that any campaign that is under $100 per day is a waste of effort. Ive seen people start campaigns on $20 even $50 per day and not get sufficient clicks to provide actionable data or conversions. With small budgets, one can quickly see their ROI decrease. And of course, if you arent getting the results you think that you should be getting, who do ya blame? Its not the cheapskate who wanted to get big returns from a small budget. Having a small budget can be like having a beautiful Ferrari F4 and giving it only a quarter tank of gas. You wont go very far.

How Do I Build a Campaign?

Each campaign should have its own budget. When do you create a new campaign? A good rule of thumb is to separate AdWords campaigns by geography. If you have different cities or even states where you are promoting different local branches or retail outlets, etc. it makes sense to differentiate ads campaigns between each store. You will also want to have a separate search only campaign and a display only campaign and if you want to perform re-marketing, then you guessed it; you will want a separate campaign for that as well. The reason for the separate campaigns is because each of these types of marketing behave differently.

How do I Build an Adgroup?

If you havent figured this out yet, Google rewards relevant content. A best practice is to create Adgroups with tightly themed subjects just like you would organize your brick and mortar store. So for example: a campaign would be Shoes and the adgroups would be mens shoes, women shoes, children shoes, etc. Assess the spend of each individual ad group within each campaign. Within each Adgroup have at least 3 ads; one using dynamic keyword insertion, another using a question and all of them using at least one keyword from your keyword list and with a strong call to action, other than call now or click here. These calls to action are too obvious and Google doesnt like it and thus penalized advertisers who use these.

Get Dynamic

In September of 2014, AdWords launched the most impactful update for e-commerce advertisers since the release of Dynamic Remarketing. This update was the release of ad customizers, which allow advertisers to add dynamic content to their text ads. This dynamic content can be anything from inventory or price to a countdown until a specific event. This works very well if you have thousands of products that constantly change. Give Google a datafeed of all your product information and set bids based upon information contained within that feed. With dynamic search ads, Google grabs the information it needs from your site and you target audiences based upon that information. Much like with Google Shopping, make sure you begin with an ad group targeting All web pages and set your bids low here. A low bid is important because it stops DSAs from stealing traffic from existing search campaigns (something you really want to avoid). The last thing you want to do is compete against your your own ads. Naturally it also makes sense to take every opportunity to use ad extensions such as call, call out, location, social, review and site extensions. These give your ads more creativity and differentiate your ads from the sea of sameness seen on the SERPs.

Get Shopping Campaigns

If you have products to sell, you NEED to take full advantage of Shopping Campaigns, formerly known as Product Listing Ads (PLA). These ads can outperform text search ads because they show the image of the exact product a shopper is looking for at the time they are ready to buy. Simply create a data feed with every piece of product information to display with the product listing including a good quality image so shoppers see exactly what they will be buying. This is still an under utilized Google product and can make a positive impact for your overall campaigns in 2015.

Managing Keywords

Ive written about keywords in another article so I wont go into as much detail here. As you develop your keywords and keep them tightly related to the adgroups you will quickly determine which terms are generating clicks and converting visitors to customers. As your campaign accumulates data, you will zero in on the keywords driving the strongest ROAS, or, Return on Ad Spend. Using the keyword reports, you will be able to identify and expand upon these top performing keywords with like-terms. At the same time, you will pause or delete keywords that are under performing. You will also determine which keywords are driving traffic which are irrelevant and need to be added to the negative keyword list.
Since Google got rid of exact match types in 2014, you no longer need to build exhaustive lists of plurals and misspellings. AdWords now performs that with broad match automatically. Google points out that close keyword variations receive an average of 7 percent more exact and phrase match clicks with comparable click-through and conversion rates.

What About Bid Management?

Closely linked to your spend are your ad and keyword bids. Naturally you want to have your ad show within the first 3 ad placements available, on average. Ads showing up in the #4 spot or lower is a strong signal that the ads need to be changed or the bid needs to be increased. You can tell by looking at the 1st page suggested bid column. If your ads or keywords are under performing due to constrained budget, Google will show that in the status column. I like to be in the 1 2 spot and bid accordingly. You can manage bids with the ads as well as keywords.
You can also add bid modifiers for location and device. You can increase the bids by a certain amount and Google will use that bid for the auction. This is helpful to win placements for searches on mobile devices or for users close to your store and bring them in to buy. You can also decrease bids in the same fashion. Lets say you want to decrease bids as people are further from your store so the ads only show for relevant audiences within a certain radius from your location, you would place a location bid modifier on the ad.

Testing

ABT Always Be Testing. Marketing is about continuous testing. Give a campaign at least 3 months before calling it a failure. Create a campaign with at least 3 adgroups and 3 ads per adgroup and 7-8 keywords per adgroup. This allows you to manage the campaign and test the separate components such as the headline and description lines as well as the keywords. Start small with changing one item at a time and tweaking as needed.
These are the best practices (As I see it) for getting even better results with AdWords for 2015. If you disagree Id love to read your comments below.

Increase Internal space of any Android device with low internal space

Increase Internal space of any Android device with low internal space

Few Days back, I posted a similar post regarding the internal space. which worked well however that method was too much laggy and made the mobile phone very slow Link to the older method. I have found this new method which will also increase the internal space but there will be no lag.

Old method had lots of bugs and most of the apps gave Force close errors like play store app. and sometimes due to which the mobile restarted automatically and app stopped responding.

Now the new method has solved the issue.

You will need to enable the init.d support on your device and then a mod will be applied.

Features in the new Mod:
The Mod is called INT2EXTV2+. It is also a cron mod similar to the older one but bug has been fixed. It has following features:

-Mounts /sd-ext to /data
-Leaves /data/data on internal for speed
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot
-No symlinks
-Supports SWAP2INT
-Completely universal

Lets Begin with the installation:

Step 1: Preparing the Device.

  1. Make a Nandroid backup using CWM.
  2. after backup Mounts & storage > format /system,
  3. Wipe/Data
  4. Wipe cache
  5. wipe dalvik
  6. wipe battery stats.
  7. Advanced > partition SD card
  8. ext partition as 1024MB (Not more than 1024 else your device will be slow),
  9. swap partition as 512MB
  10. Complete the partitioning.
  11. Now install a new ROM that you want to use (I used Samsung Y rom for micromax A44 and Myphone A618 Link of the ROM)
  12. After installation Reboot the Device.
  13. Now Install Titanium Backup (Download here)
  14. and remove link2SD (It creates some problem.)
  15. Device is ready for step 2.
Step 2: Setting Up Busybox

  1. Download BusyBox from this link
  2. and install it
  3. Proceed to step 3..

Step 3: Setting up Init.d support in the device.

We will use this Uni-init v1.0.apk to give init.d support to your device.

  1. Install Uni-init apk
  2. Click on Activate
  3. click on verify to Check if it is installed or not.
  4. Now download and copy Aroma_kernel.zip to your sd card.
  5. Reboot to CWM
  6. Install from SD card
  7. Choose from SD card
  8. select Aroma_kernel.zip and flash it
  9. Reboot the device
  10. Proceed to step 4.

Step 4: Applying INT2EXTV2+ suport on the device.

  1. Download the INT2EXTV2+.zip
  2. Copy the downloaded file to your SD card
  3. Reboot to CWM recovery
  4. and flash it
  5. Reboot the device
Note: During this reboot the device will take time it may hang during reboot and you may need to pull out the battery but you must wait for at least 20Minutes before pulling out the battery. Just have patience. :)

After Reboot you must see that you have got about 800MB+ of storage available.

My personal Review:
I have tested it 24Hrs and couldnt wait to share it. I used the older method which was way too laggy and Lots of FCs.. but honestly this works. I am running more apps then earlier and its still smooother.
