How to Make the Previous Next Arrows Prompt For Save – AutoCAD Electrical
How to Make the Previous Next Arrows Prompt For Save – AutoCAD Electrical
![[image69.png]](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWX7GUB9JhiPIC14iPeKnfBG0WC7YenYs7iDAcTDgSVY0EOlXq8Aw4IPsAGGFSEj9wNJ3u6UtDLtNvWj6cFvkPeNPGQ1WmkhgeXyeMBi2AOtGof52d7NKwAtclLKWJUGR6IhmxI3xf-CE/s1600/image69.png)
These arrows are nice to use since they close each previous drawing as the new drawings are opened. However a down side to this automatic functionality is that any changes are SAVED automatically.
This can be good or this can be very bad. The drawings are saved and then closed. So the undo history is lost.
However there is a setting in the wd.env file that can be enabled. Simply find the following row
*WD_PROMPT_SAVE,1,set to 1 to trigger "Save changes" prompt when using open dwg next/prev arrows buttons
By default this row is commented out (*), and Electrical saves automatically if there are pending changes. Remove the asterisk from this row and the Next/Previous buttons will prompt for a Save if there are any pending changes needing a save. After pressing Yes or NO the drawing will close and move on to the Next/Previous drawing.
For more information on the wd.env file see these past posts.

How to quickly memorize AutoCAD commands
How to quickly memorize AutoCAD commands
Have you ever experience forgetting AutoCAD commands that you recently used? And whats funny is that you stop working. Stare at the monitor and think of that specific command. These might be those commands that you rarely use. I have been using AutoCAD for so long but what makes it funny is that I still experience these kind of moment while using it. Well, maybe there are a lot of reasons a person could slightly or temporarily forget something right? Your mind is full of these things or ideas that might have been getting in your way while working. Some call it day dreaming. Funny but it happens.
I could still remember those early years where I first learned AutoCAD. I couldnt let that Autocad user manual far from where my station is. I always check it from time to time until I got grip to most of the basic commands that I always use. For those times I remember writing most of those commands on a "post-it" and stick it on to the frame of my monitor. For multiple step commands, I wrote the steps on a small notepad which is always sit next to my keyboard for easy access whenever I need it. What I hear others do is to make a note on a piece of paper and tape it on their desk, type it on windows notepad program then save it to their desktop, use notes gadget on windows vista or windows 7 and the most uncommonly is that to access notes on a smart phone (very techie huh?).
Recently, on AutoCAD 2012. There is a new feature called Automatic Command Line Completion (see image Figure 1 below) wherein you type the first to three letters of the command that you have in mind and AutoCAD gives you a list of valid choices displayed from which you can choose and complete the command for you. I will discuss this more on the next post.

Either of these methods could help you depending on your current environment and resources. Maybe you could use it all at once. It really depends on what is the most effective method for you by how you apply it.
If you think of other methods which is not listed here. Please start sharing it in the comments box below. You could also share interesting topics, ideas, tech information relating to cad by going to this site or to facebook.

HVAC Load Calculation Extension For AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP
HVAC Load Calculation Extension For AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP

The HVAC Load Calculation Extension by Autodesk, Inc. is a commercial and industrial HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) load calculation software package whose calculations are based upon the ASHRAE 2005 Fundamentals radiant time series (RTS) method. The purpose of this software is to provide you with total cooling and heating loads for a building so that you may properly specify the correct size HVAC equipment (whether it is a packaged rooftop unit or a boiler). This program is geared specifically toward the HVAC engineer, architect, design/build mechanical contractor, and building maintenance supervisor.
The HVAC Load Calculation Extension is available to customers of AutoCAD MEP 2009 and AutoCAD Revit MEP Suite 2009 on Autodesk Subscription and is subject to Autodesk Subscription terms and conditions.
The Extension supports sustainable design by allowing engineers to properly size HVAC equipment without oversizing. Conventional wisdom dictates that it is better to have too much cooling than not enough. Without the ability or tools to accurately calculate heating and cooling loads, oversizing equipment is a common practice. However, oversized equipment wastes a tremendous amount of energy throughout its lifetime. In a BIM-supported workflow, analysis capabilities and calculation tools (such as this Extension) enables designers and engineers to more thoroughly investigate design alternatives and optimize their emerging design for energy efficiency and sustainability.
The HVAC Load Calculation Extension uses formulas from the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Handbook of Fundamentals. This publication compiles the fundamentals of the HVAC, such as methods for calculating peak cooling and heating loads for buildings.
The Extension produces a number of reports including: a summary load breakdown by individual room; a detailed load breakdown by individual load components such as roofs, walls, people, and lighting; and a psychrometric report that includes the properties of the entering and exiting air. Some of these reports include graphs for better visualization of the load breakdowns. Users also have the ability to export custom reports to Microsoft Word or Excel applications.
The Extension is able to import building information from AutoCAD MEP or Revit MEP using the gbXML file format. This means that all pertinent information about the building can be transferred to the Extension so that very little manual data entry is needed. Once the cooling and heating load calculations are performed, the results can be exported back to AutoCAD MEP or Revit MEP for proper duct and pipe sizing.
- Inputs for HVAC system characteristics such as supply cooling and heating temperatures, ventilation rates, fan characteristics, cooling and heating setpoints, duct sizing, and safety factors
- Inputs for HVAC area (room) characteristics such as wall, window, roof, door, skylight, and partition areas. In addition, there are inputs for # of people, electrical appliances, infiltration, lighting, miscellaneous, exhaust, and plenum loads
- Weather data from over 800 cities throughout the world
- A complete u-value database for common wall, roof, window, floor, and door types
- A complete appliance list for determining internal electrical equipment load contributions
- Many reports including summary, detailed, psychrometric, wall/window breakdown, 24-hour load breakdown, and graphical reports
- A feature that allows the user to export all inputs and outputs to custom Microsoft Word and Excel documents
- Equipment selection
- Support for both English (IP) and Metric (SI) units

I cannot use i Drop to drag blocks from web to my AutoCAD
I cannot use i Drop to drag blocks from web to my AutoCAD
This "iDrop indicator" (eyedropper) can be instaled or updated also manually from the i-Drop page.
If you are using the 64-bit Windows version, you need to install the 64-bit version of the i-Drop component (ActiveX control).
Windows Vista users have to add the web site with i-Drop content (e.g. www.cadforum.cz with the CAD blocks Catalog) to the list of "Trusted sites" (see Tools > Internet options > Security: Servers) in their Internet Explorer.
Then you can catch the requested block with the eye-dropper and drag and drop it to your CAD application.
How to Insert Title Block on Paper Space in AutoCAD
How to Insert Title Block on Paper Space in AutoCAD
If you are drawing or designing a 3-D object in AutoCAD, you may wish to view or edit it in Paper Space mode. This mode compresses it into a 2-D image, approximating what your design would look like as a drawing on paper. You can still edit the design in Paper Space, including the insertion of title blocks. Because AutoCAD title block appear separately from the main drawing, you will not need to modify them when you return to 3-D or Model Space mode.
You can also see more autocad title block tutorial, check more about how to make a title block in autocad.
Instructions
Step 1.
Open your design in AutoCAD. Click the text input window.
Step 2.
Type tilemode (leave out quotes in all commands) and hit Enter. Then type 0 and hit Enter. This takes you into Paper Space mode.
Step 3.
Type mvsetup and hit Enter. Type titleblock and hit Enter. Then type insert and hit Enter. A window will appear, allowing you to choose the title block.
Step 4.
Click the title block to insert it. You can also choose from an autocad title block template.
Step 5.
Select your plot scale in the next window that appears.
Step 6.
Hit Enter to insert the title block.

How to modify the AutoCAD DWG Launcher…
How to modify the AutoCAD DWG Launcher…
Hi everybody I had a couple of people asking this question the last couple of days
Even though I installed AutoCAD 2015, when I double click on a drawing it always opens in AutoCAD 2014 How do I fix this?
The problem is that for one reason or another the AutoCAD DWG Launcher is set up to work in this case with AutoCAD 2014.
Here is what you need to do the make it work:
First please check that the DWG files are associated with the AutoCAD DWG Launcher.
Select a drawing -> Right click -> Go to Properties

Look for the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAutodeskDwgCommonshellexapps{F29F85E0-4FF9-1068-AB91-08002B27B3D9}:AutoCAD
Select the OpenLaunch key (right click -> Modify) and change the software version to the correct one as this image shows...

How To Get Your AutoCAD Drawings Right Away
How To Get Your AutoCAD Drawings Right Away
You are working with AutoCAD. Or any CAD program. You know how it is. It takes a lot of time before your drawing has been created.Something Completely Different
And then. After your drawing has been created. You cannot use it right away. The drawing must be checked. And that takes time too.
Big Disadvantage
Waiting for your CAD drawing before it is finished. And then the time that checking takes. That is a big disadvantage.
Is that how it always is? Is there no way that the waiting can be avoided? Is there a quicker way of getting your CAD drawing?
A Quicker Way
There is a quicker way. There is no need for waiting for hours before your CAD drawing is finished and checked.
Get an AutoLISP program. An AutoLISP program can create parts of your CAD drawing. It can even create complete CAD drawings.
If the AutoLISP program is creating parts of your CAD drawing, you are saving a lot of time. The CAD operator is quicker.
The AutoLISP program creating a complete CAD drawing. That is even better. You get your CAD drawing in less than five seconds.
And working with the CAD program is very easy. Anybody can work with the CAD program. Even non CAD operators.
CAD Operators
Im not saying that you must do that. Im not saying to get rid of all your CAD operators. But maybe you can do with less of them.
I think. Even if you are working with a lot of CAD programs. You still need CAD operators. Not everything is done automatically.
The Point
That is the point of this post. There is no need for waiting for hours before your CAD drawing is finished. You can save a lot of time.
Here is something completely different from what you normally read in this blog. It is an imagination.
Imagine this. One day you wake up and you are a millionaire! Look at how different your life will be:
- You no longer have to worry about your debts, bills, and slaving for money.
- You can spend your time doing things you love, spend your time with your beloved family and friends.

Important Notice End of Sale of New Perpetual Licenses Autodesk AutoCAD LT Family products
Important Notice End of Sale of New Perpetual Licenses Autodesk AutoCAD LT Family products

Autodesk is gradually transitioning new software purchases of our products to subscription options only.
After 31 October 2015, perpetual licenses of the following Autodesk AutoCAD LT Family products will no longer be available for sale in selected Asia Pacific countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam):
- Autodesk AutoCAD LT
- Autodesk AutoCAD LT for Mac
- Autodesk Inventor LT
- Autodesk Revit LT
- Autodesk AutoCAD Inventor LT Suite
- Autodesk Revit LT Suite
Desktop Subscription is available as monthly, quarterly, one, two and three-year plans. We will continue to innovate and improve Desktop Subscription products so they more tightly integrate with Autodesk cloud services, and reduce file compatibility issues.
Their commitment to you
Throughout this period, Autodesk and our partners will work with customers to make this transition from perpetual licenses to Desktop Subscription as smooth as possible, and to deal with exceptional situations accordingly. We will provide as much advance notice as we can so that people can anticipate and plan for these changes. Please refer to the Questions & Answers section below for more detailed information. We will update this site as we progress through the transition. If after reading the details below you still have questions, please visit our Perpetual License Changes Forum (US site) to ask questions or review answers we have given to other visitors.
Why theyre making these changes
How we design and build the world is changing rapidly, which in turn is changing the tools we use and the ways companies and individuals buy and access software. Our customers have long asked for greater flexibility and more value from their software, and the shift to
Desktop Subscription allows Autodesk to deliver both. With Desktop Subscription you get a simplified product management and deployment experience. Plus, its easier to introduce new tools and more seats into a project with lower upfront cost and the ability to pay as you go.
We think that the smoothest transition for our customers in selected countries is to take a phased approach as we move to subscription-only software access. This approach is being implemented in Asia Pacific (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam).
Perpetual licenses of Autodesk AutoCAD LT Family products will no longer be available after 31 October 2015. New seats of most individual software products, excluding Design and Creation Suites, will generally be available only as pay-as-you-go Desktop Subscription options globally after 31 January 2016.
