How to Update Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 To Android Jelly Bean 4 2 2

                                                   WARNING

• Backup all your data stored into device�s internal memory, do not try to use the Samsung Kies app to get the backup as the CM 10.1 is a custom ROM firmware.
• Ensure that the device�s battery has more than 70% power left, or else you risk obtaining a forced power off in the middle of the flashing process and to brick or damage your device.
• Next, download and install in the PC the suitable USB drivers for Samsung Galaxy GIO device.
• Root the Samsung Galaxy GIO device, and flash a custom recovery image such as ClockworkMod recovery (CWM).
• Now, from the next path: �Settings > Application > Development > USB debugging mode� enable the USB debugging mode option.

 How to install the CyanogenMod 10.1 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware on Galaxy GIO smartphone.

1. First, download the flashing file from here and save it in your PC.
2. Secondly, download the Google Apps package and save it in your PC.
3. Do not extract the downloaded files.
4. Now, connect the Galaxy Gio S5660 to PC using the USB cord.
5. Next, move (copy and paste) the downloaded CM 10.1 files and the Google Apps pack to the SD card.
6. Once the downloaded files are complete copied, disconnect the smartphone from the PC.
7. Turn the smartphone off.
8. Boot it into recovery mode. (Press and keep holding the Volume UP, Home and Power buttons simultaneous till the Samsung Logo is displayed).
9. Now, from the Recovery mode get a Nandroid backup for your actual running ROM. To do this select from the Recovery Mode the �backup and restore > backup� option. (The saved backup ROM file is stored inside of device�s SD card, this backup can be restored in case you don�t like the new firmware or something unpleasant is happening during or after the flashing process.
10. Now, select �wipe data/factory reset� then �wipe cache partition �then select �advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.�
11. Next, return to the main Recovery Mode menu and flash the CyanogenMod 10.1 custom ROM.
12. Select �install zip from SD card� then �choose zip from SD card� search the firmware file and confirm installation.�
13. Apply the above step once again, but select the Google Apps package.
14. Once the flashing process has been done, return in the main Recovery Mode menu.
15. From the main Recovery Mode menu select �reboot system now.�
16. The Galaxy Gio will reboot, now wait around 5 minutes to load the new firmware and to display the home screen.

How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Gio GT S5660

Samsung Galaxy Gio was announced back in 2011 and it was a low-end Android smartphone from Samsung. Initially, the phone was running Android Froyo and eventually it got updated to the Gingerbread. However, GB is now considered to be an obsolete version of Android and we now need at least ICS running on the device. While there�s no news from the manufacturer on when they�re going to roll-out the ICS updates, you can obviously use the custom ROMs out there to bump up your firmware version as soon as now. To do so, you�re going to need root-access on your device and this guide shows exactly how you can root your device. It explains all the steps you should follow to root your Samsung Galaxy Gio smartphone. Let�s get started with the procedure:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You�re gonna void the warranty of your device by rooting it. However, unrooting will help you reinstate the warranty of your device, provided an unrooting procedure is available there.

2. Your device should have at least 60% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Update ZIP (It�s attached in the first post)

    or

III. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Gio (GT-S5660):

1. Place the Update ZIP archive on the Desktop of your PC.

2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy the Update ZIP archive over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once copied, unplug your device from your PC.

5. Turn OFF your device.

6. Reboot your device into Recovery mode. To do so, press and hold the Home+Power buttons together.

7. From the Recovery Menu, select Update from sdcard.

8. Select the Update ZIP file you copied earlier for flashing.

9. It�ll then flash the file on your device.

10. Once it�s done, reboot your device.

11. And you�re rooted now!

Congrats! Your device�s been successfully rooted and you can confirm the same by installing the root-checker app.

How to Install ClockworkMod Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Gio GT S5660

The next obvious step after rooting an Android device is flashing a custom Recovery Image. A custom recovery not only helps you flash custom ROMs, but it lets you take backups of your current ROM so in case you mess up with your device, you can easily revert back to the working firmware. The widely popular ClockworkMod Recovery�s available for the Galaxy Gio and the guide below shows how you can install it on your device. Here you go:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. You can check out our root guide to root your device.

2. This will replace your current recovery with the CWM Recovery.

II. Downloading Required Files:

III. Installing ClockworkMod Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Gio (GT-S5660):

1. Place the ClockworkMod Recovery you downloaded to your Desktop.
