HOW TO MANUALLY CREATE A BOOTABLE USB DISK FOR WINDOWS 7 8 10 UEFI LEGACY

HOW TO MANUALLY CREATE A BOOTABLE USB DISK FOR WINDOWS 7 8 10 UEFI LEGACY

Here is a tutorial on how to create a bootbale usb removable disk or flash for Windows 7, 8 or 10.

If you think an ISO file is a document for International Organization for Standardization, please stop reading here. :D

if your flash is already prepped up for booting in any of the chosen boot mode before, UEFI or legacy, you can skip to step 6.

The UEFI substage is for those installing in the modern UEFI 64 bit systems, while the Legacy mode substage is for those installing in the former/old systems with non UEFI partitions.

STAGE 1

0: backup the files in the removable storage, to avoid unnecessary data loss.

1. Goto start, type CMD or Command Prompt, rick click and run as administrator or ctrl + shift + left click / Enter.

2. In the command prompt window, type:
diskpart

3. List Disk
(Note the drive number of your USB disk)
select disk #
(where is the disk number).

4. Type Clean
NB. This will erase all partitions and data on the USB

5. Type create partition primary

6. Type List partition
NB: If you did not skip actions 1-5, you should see only one partition here, and you can skip to  8.
Note the partition # of the partition and

7. Select Partiton #
where # is the partition #

as can be seen from the image aboove, cause I did a clean command, I have only one partition and the partition is selected by default (the * beside the partition name), so the List partition and select partition is not needed; but for those who skipped to this stage as a result of having multiple partition on their harddrive, they will see multiple partitions and can select the one they wish to format and use as bootable.

8. format fs=fat32 quick

9. active

10. assign

11. Exit

12. double click on the ISO image; or open the iso image with windows explorer (Windows 8 & above) and copy its content directly into the flash, or extract the ISO image with any of your favourite extractors and paste its content into the USB disk.

IF UEFI ENVIRONMENT

If youre installing in a UEFI environment, If its the new Windows 10, you are done already, if it is a windows 8 ISO image, continue with the additional steps below.

13. if youre installing from a 64 bit environment, goto EFI/Boot directory, if there is a bootx64.efi file in there, you need not worry anymore, youre done else;

14. locate and open install.wim in sources folder

15. copy bootx64.efi to the efi/boot directory of the USB removable disk

16. rename bootx64.efi to bootx64.efi.

17. Grab a drink, youre done.

IF NON UEFI / LEGACY ENVIRONMENT

For those who want to install in a non UEFI environment but the legacy/preUEFI days mode. follow the steps instead;

13.  Goto start, type CMD or Command Prompt, rick click and run as administrator or ctrl + shift + left click / Enter.

14.  type x: where x is the drive letter of the mounted ISO or of your USB removable disk. e.g d:

15. type cd boot to navigate into the x: oot directory

16: type bootsect /nt60 d:
Where d: is the drive letter of your USB removable disk drive.

How to Manually Create a Windows Bootable Pendrive

How to manually create a windows bootable pendrive

There are other freewares available in the net to make an downloaded iso into bootable usb flash drive. Microsoft has released one it self to convert iso to bootable pendrive check Here for the freeware
other developers have also attempted to create softwares which convert iso into a bootable pen drives here are some examples Win Usb Maker, Universal Usb Installer
But these softwares work based on the simple given below steps. Have fun creating your own bootable usb device

Step 1
Goto start menu and type run cmd in search of start menu without codes. Then right click  and click run as administrator.
or open my computer go to the partition where windows is installed the click on "Windows" then go to "System32" there you will find cmd.exe right click on that and select Run as Administrator

Step 2
Once command prompt is opened mean then type DISKPART in command prompt. Then you can see the command prompt as displayed like bellow.

Step 3
Once diskpart is enable mean you ready to change the pendrive as boot able drive.
Now you need to check what are the devices are connect with the system. using List Disk command.

Step 4
Once all devices are listed you can select the disk which disk you want to use as a boot able disk. Following comment is use to select the disk ,Then only the you can clean the disk.
Select Disk1?
Step 5
Once disk is selected you need to clean the disk,If you keep any file in the disk it will be deleted.Command to clean is bellow.
CLEAN
Step 6
Once the clean is completed,Then you need to create a partition as primary, For you can run the following in command
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
Step 7
Once the partition success. You need to select the partition.Command is bellow.
SELECT PARTITION 1?
Step 8
Once the partition is selected . You need to active the drive.Command bellow.
ACTIVE
Step 9
Once the drive is Active. Then you need to format the drive in ntfs format. That is the correct for to make the pendrive as book able disk.Command to format the disk to NTFS.
FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK
Step 10
The format is completed mean. Then you need to assign.Command bellow
ASSIGN

Step 11
Then exit the command prompt.Command bellow.
EXIT
Once all the above steps are completed then you need to insert the Windows OS DVD into you system. Then Enter in to the DVD drive.(If you have the Windows OS in ISO file mean you can use the PowersISO software ).
For Example:-
The DVD drive is d drive mean.
Just goto command prompt change the drive.
type
C:> D:
then
D:> cd boot
then it looks like bellow
D: oot>
Use the bootsect.exe to make the pendrive as bootable and it to used for windows 7/vista only.
Then you need to type
BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 F:
Here F is my pendrive so i use F: in end of the above command. You can use which drive your pendrive is mounted. Then hit enter button.
Then copy all the file from windows OS DVD to Pen drive.
Then the pen drive is ready to boot the OS.
Goto BIOS setting and change the first boot as USB drive then only it will boot from pen drive.
Acknowledgement
I am in no way responsible if you mess up with your pc or your windows or your pendrive and this is just a recommendation form my side i might also be wrong but i only followed this procedure and it worked....
