How to port CWM to MTK device

How to port CWM to MTK devices

Porting CWM to MTK devices is quite easy. All you need to are
  •  A Windows PC, preferably, Windows 7
  •  MTK Droid Tools. You can download it here
  •  ADB Drivers or PdaNet for PC (pda seems easier to use), you can download  PDANethere
First of all, make sure your phone is rooted a with SuperUser installed. Go to Setting>developers option on your phone and enable USB Debugging

Steps to Port CWM to your MTK Device

1. Install PdAnet on your Pc. During the course of installation, PDAnet will require you to connect your phone, so make sure USB Debugging is activated and select USB mode when you plug your phone. When PDAnet prompts you for phone type, just select others and follow the on-screen instructions. This will enable you phone drivers to be installed to your PC
2. After that, extract the MTK Droid tools to a desktop or anywhere you wish on your PC, open the folder and run MTK Droid Tools. Connect your phone, it will be detected by MTK Droid tools.
3. Once your phone has been detected, click on Root below the screen. Droid tools will attempt to connect to your phone through your Superuser, just click allow on your phone. Wait till the process finish, a yellow dot at the bottom of the screen will change to green. (click yes to all screen prompts)
4. At this stage, you can decide to take a full backup of your stock Rom before you flash CWM or just proceed to flashing CWM directly.
* To backup your ROM, click on the root, backup, recovery tab on the screen. You will see a backup button. Beside it, you will see a backup user data and cache option, tick it. Click on the backup button and wait for the backup to be completed. (click yes to all screen prompts)
MTK_Droid_Tools_CWM_2
*If you dont want to take a backup, go to step 5.
5. Under root, backup and recovery tab, in the Recovery and boot section, tick to use boot.img on phone. Then click on Recovery and boot. It will start the flashing process. Click yes to all screen prompts until the process finish. Once it is completed, it will boot your phone into recovery.MTK_Droid_Tools_CWM_3

Increase Internal space of any Android device with low internal space

Increase Internal space of any Android device with low internal space

Few Days back, I posted a similar post regarding the internal space. which worked well however that method was too much laggy and made the mobile phone very slow Link to the older method. I have found this new method which will also increase the internal space but there will be no lag.

Old method had lots of bugs and most of the apps gave Force close errors like play store app. and sometimes due to which the mobile restarted automatically and app stopped responding.

Now the new method has solved the issue.

You will need to enable the init.d support on your device and then a mod will be applied.

Features in the new Mod:
The Mod is called INT2EXTV2+. It is also a cron mod similar to the older one but bug has been fixed. It has following features:

-Mounts /sd-ext to /data
-Leaves /data/data on internal for speed
-Works with EXT 2/3/4 filesystems
-ZipAligns /data/app on every boot
-No symlinks
-Supports SWAP2INT
-Completely universal

Lets Begin with the installation:

Step 1: Preparing the Device.

  1. Make a Nandroid backup using CWM.
  2. after backup Mounts & storage > format /system,
  3. Wipe/Data
  4. Wipe cache
  5. wipe dalvik
  6. wipe battery stats.
  7. Advanced > partition SD card
  8. ext partition as 1024MB (Not more than 1024 else your device will be slow),
  9. swap partition as 512MB
  10. Complete the partitioning.
  11. Now install a new ROM that you want to use (I used Samsung Y rom for micromax A44 and Myphone A618 Link of the ROM)
  12. After installation Reboot the Device.
  13. Now Install Titanium Backup (Download here)
  14. and remove link2SD (It creates some problem.)
  15. Device is ready for step 2.
Step 2: Setting Up Busybox

  1. Download BusyBox from this link
  2. and install it
  3. Proceed to step 3..

Step 3: Setting up Init.d support in the device.

We will use this Uni-init v1.0.apk to give init.d support to your device.

  1. Install Uni-init apk
  2. Click on Activate
  3. click on verify to Check if it is installed or not.
  4. Now download and copy Aroma_kernel.zip to your sd card.
  5. Reboot to CWM
  6. Install from SD card
  7. Choose from SD card
  8. select Aroma_kernel.zip and flash it
  9. Reboot the device
  10. Proceed to step 4.

Step 4: Applying INT2EXTV2+ suport on the device.

  1. Download the INT2EXTV2+.zip
  2. Copy the downloaded file to your SD card
  3. Reboot to CWM recovery
  4. and flash it
  5. Reboot the device
Note: During this reboot the device will take time it may hang during reboot and you may need to pull out the battery but you must wait for at least 20Minutes before pulling out the battery. Just have patience. :)

After Reboot you must see that you have got about 800MB+ of storage available.

My personal Review:
I have tested it 24Hrs and couldnt wait to share it. I used the older method which was way too laggy and Lots of FCs.. but honestly this works. I am running more apps then earlier and its still smooother.

Alternate Links of The Downloads Above:

  • Uni-Initd
  • CronMOd
  • Busybox, Titanium backup, etc (Use Google.com :P)

The Credit Goes to the developers
croniccorey (for Cron Mod)

How to Manually install an OTA update on your HTC device

How to Manually install an OTA update on your HTC device

Sometimes it turns out that your device for some reason cant find the most recent OTA (Over The Air) update. However, there is a solution to apply OTA update manually, without being forced to wait for the update being downloaded and installed by your device.

Facts you need to know before continuing:
  1. This method has nothing to do with the "adb sideload" feature available on Android devices since Jelly Bean. It should work on every Android HTC device.
  2. Read about different software versions for the HTC devices here. Keep in mind that the OTA update must match the software version on your device. Each original OTA update.zip package has 2 different software versions in its name - the version of the software that must be currently installed on your device and the version of the software that your device will run after the update. For example:
OTA_M7_UL_JB43_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_3.62.401.1-2.24.401.8_release_338160gxmo5sd9337kadux.zip

As you can see, 2.24.401.8 is the software version you must currently have installed to be able to run the OTA and 3.62.401.1 is the version of the software expected after the update. You cant flash an OTA update on a different software version to that expected by the OTA update for two main reasons:
  1. Formal reason - the OTA update.zip package checks if your system is running the expected software version before it starts to install the update:
    assert(file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "htc/htc_europe/m7:4.2.2/JDQ39/235216.8:user/release-keys");
This must match the following build fingerprint from the build.prop. If the versions dont match, the installation of the OTA package will be cancelled.
    ro.build.fingerprint=htc/htc_europe/m7:4.2.2/JDQ39/235216.8:user/release-keys
  2. Technical reason - OTA update.zip packages usually contain patches for the target files. This way OTA update doesnt have to be 1GB size, even if it is supposed to update the whole OS to the newer version. Patch files have an *.apk.p extension (f.g. Camera.apk.p) and each patch file must match the target file (f.g. Camera.apk). To make it possible, OTA update.zip package checks the MD5 checksum of each file on the system partition on your device:
    assert(apply_patch_check("/system/app/Camera.apk",
    "b3b79e40bad0b1bec5fb949ac5f8662f91bee714",
    "5a5bf63e3d7c9de52a7d8d7a292e158263783844"));
And finally, if the MD5 is correct it applies the patch. All these commands are stored in META-INFcomgoogleandroidupdater-script of each OTA update.zip package. If the MD5 is incorrect, or at least one file is missing, the installation of the OTA package will be cancelled.
    assert(apply_patch("/system/app/Camera.apk", "-",
    b3b79e40bad0b1bec5fb949ac5f8662f91bee714, 4229394,
    5a5bf63e3d7c9de52a7d8d7a292e158263783844,
    package_extract_file("patch/system/app/Camera.apk.p")));

Now you are ready to manually apply the OTA update on your device. The method youll use is based on Android stock recovery.
  1. Make sure you have the stock (original) recovery flashed on your device
  2. Make sure youre running a completely unmodified operating system. Additional files like Superuser.apk or su binary are allowed, you just cant have any system files changed or removed (due to the MD5 check)
  3. Make sure you have a reasonable amount of battery charge remaining
  4. Make sure the OTA update youre about to install matches the software version on your device
  5. Copy the OTA update.zip package to your device (internal storage preferred)
  6. Turn OFF the device (make sure fastboot mode is disabled in settings)
  7. Hold your volume down and power keys until the bootloader starts up
  8. Using the volume keys, navigate down to RECOVERY and press power
  9. You are now in stock recovery mode. You should see nothing more than a (sometimes spinning) Android with the red exclamation mark above it (an empty black screen is also possible). Wait for a few seconds
  10. First hold volume up, then (with volume up held down) press power button to enter the main recovery menu. This keys combination may vary from device to device. Try different keys combination if the above one doesnt work (might be all three keys all together too)
  11. Navigate down to "apply from phone storage" text and press power to confirm
  12. Navigate to the location where you copied the OTA update.zip package and press power to confirm
  13. Wait (sometimes you might need to follow further instructions on the screen) until the update process is finished
  14. Once system is booted you should see a confirmation about the successfully flashed update.

How To Install Ubuntu Touch On Android Device The Easy Way for stock rom go to rompure com

How To Install Ubuntu Touch On Android Device The Easy Way for stock rom go to rompure com

Installing Ubuntu Touch has become quite easy these days and Android enthusiasts and developers across the globe have already started testing this brand new OS onto their devices. Ubuntu Touch brings a new platform to mobile devices and opens new opportunities to the developers. As we know, some of the BQ and Meizu devices officially run Ubuntu OS as part of their OEM and the OS is quite impressive.

Ubuntu developers have made the installation quite easy. It starts with just a couple of Linux commands and the installation process starts. It will verify your device and download and flash the software for you automatically. So you dont need to worry about bricking your device by flashing the wrong file. However, you will need to connect your mobile device to a PC running Linux based OS and issue commands using ADB and Fastboot.

Follow the instructions below and get the server URL from the download section. Before you proceed, backup everything and read the instructions first. There are two methods. First will completely remove your previous ROM and perform a clean install. However, if you dont want to lose your previous ROM, then go through the MultiROM method. This will help you install Ubuntu Touch OS alongside your primary OS.

Note: Needs a bootloader unlocked device.

Download Ubuntu Touch URL for Android

[lock]OnePlus One:
Code:
ubuntu-device-flash -v server=http://system-image.ubports.com touch channel=ubuntu-touch/stable device=bacon bootstrap
MultiROM file: (MultiROMMgr-UT.apk)
for stock rom devices ? Visit Ubuntu Page
Or visit XDA forum page for your device to get the Code:
[/lock]

Install Flash Factory Images On Android Devices Using Fasboot

Step 1: Enable USB Debugging on your device. To do so, go to Settings>About Phone> Tap on the Build Number several times until you get a new Developer Options in theSettings. Open Developer Options and enable USB Debugging from there. Trust the connection by allowing it when you connect it to your PC for the first time. Also, enable OEM Unlock from Developer Options; if such an option is available.

Step 2: Make sure you have Ubuntu or Linux based OS running on your PC and open terminal on it. Now connect your device to PC and issue the following command to install necessary drivers to perform operation:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-device-flash phablet-tools

Step 3: Now turn off your Android device completely and unplug it from your PC.

Step 4: Boot into the bootloader or Fastboot mode. To do so, turn off your device and then press and hold volume down + the power button simultaneously for a few seconds. When you see the bootloader/Fastboot screen, connect your device to the PC using a USB cable.(Choose Fastboot if option is available) For an alternative method look at the end of this method.

Step 5: Connect your device to PC and launch terminal on PC.

Step 6: Now issue the following command in the command prompt to check your device connectivity

fastboot devices

Step 7: Now issue the following command to start the installation process:

ubuntu-device-flash -v --server=http://system-image.ubports.com touch --channel=ubuntu-touch/stable --device=bacon --bootstrap

Note: Now, each port for a device has its own system-image server owned by some community member. This means they support OTA updates and can be installed using ubuntu-device-flashscript with --server="<url>" parameter. The one listed above is for OnePlus One. Check out the code from download section or from Ubuntu website from source. Hence the code:

ubuntu-device-flash -v --server=<url for your device>

Step 8: Once done, reboot.

Once the operation completes, you can now enjoy your new Ubuntu ROM.

How to boot into bootloader or Fastboot mode using ADB

You can also issue the following command through your terminal in order to boot into the bootloader. Connect your device to the PC and open terminal. Once into terminal, issue the following command in Linux OS:

sudo adb reboot bootloader

How to install Ubuntu Touch using MultiRom

Step 1: Download the temporary version of MultirROM manager.

Step 2: Install the .apk file (if you already have MultiROM manager installed, then uninstall it first)

Step 3: Open the app and install MultirROM v32j, Recovery 2015-06-07 (It will say you have it already installed, this is just a workaround to get ubuntu touch work. YOU NEED TO INSTALL THIS ANYWAY) and kernel for your android version

Step 3: When its done installing and booted back up, you can install Ubuntu Touch going through the Method 1 above.

How to Use adb sideload on your Android device

How to Use adb sideload on your Android device

Probably every Android power-user at least once in his life used ADB - Android Debug Bridge. It is a versatile command line tool that lets you communicate with an emulator instance or connected Android-powered device. Using ADB shell commands gives you additional control over your device and sometimes it can save your device from being bricked (example: How to: copy ROM zip file to the freshly wiped device). You can find some more basic information about ADB here.

Since Android Jelly Bean there has been a new ADB mode available in the AOSP recovery, incorporated by the Android developer community into custom recoveries too. It is called "ADB sideload" and most of you probably have heard about it already. This is an alternate method to the one I wrote about here - How to: copy ROM zip file to the freshly wiped device. The main difference is that ADB sideload works only with recoveries based on Jelly Bean source or newer. I believe that ADB sideload was created to simplify the process of flashing/restoring Android update.zip packages.

Keep in mind that while using ADB sideload, the regular ADB shell wont work. To be able to use SIDELOAD mode make sure youre running latest ADB drivers from the Android SDK (Platform-tools). Here are the simple steps you need to follow to flash update.zip package using adb sideload mode (based on stock Android recovery):
  1. Place the ZIP package you want to install in the same location where you keep ADB drivers - adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll (usually its SDKplatform-tools)
  2. Make sure you have USB debugging enabled in Settings > Development on your device
  3. Make sure your phone drivers are installed on the PC youre going to use
  4. Boot your device in recovery mode (Android logo with a exclamation mark) and connect your device to PC
  5. Hold down "power" button first, followed quickly by "volume up" button. You should now see the recovery menu
  6. Use the volume up/down keys to select "apply update from ADB," then press power to select it
  7. Open a command prompt on the PC (cmd.exe), type and confirm with ENTER:
  8. cd /d <adb.exe location> (for example: cd /d c:SDKplatform-tools) or you can open your SDK/platform-tools folder, then press SHIFT button and the right-click mouse button and choose Open command prompt here
  9. adb sideload <filename>.zip (for example: adb sideload update.zip)
  10. The zip package will begin installing. When its done, select "reboot system now."
How is that different from the alternative method? You dont have to manually create the proper folders structure, push the file and later install if from inside the recovery menu. The result is basically the same, because ADB sideload is also transferring the zip file into the device internal memory and later it automatically begins the installation procedure. However, it works only with recoveries based on Android Jelly Bean source.

How To Remove And Change The Background Of A Photo With Android Device

Hello guys! I know Many of you will think that it is impossible to remove or change the background of a photo without using Photoshop, well youre wrong!  now it can also be done with Android too. A lot of apps are released on a daily basis for Android and after testing some of them, I picked up a few of them that can do the job completely without stress.

Here are the few I selected
  •     Background Eraser.
  •     Background Remover
  •     Background Eraser and Remover
  •     # PhotoLayers?Superimpose,Eraser
  •     TouchRetouch
  •     Picart
  •     Your sense.....not HTC sense lol

Now I am going to explain to you how to use one the above mentioned apps "BACKGROUND ERASER" to remove the background of any image.

Tutorial Using Background Eraser
Using background eraser to remove the background any image in Android is very easy and straightforward.

  • The first thing you must do is to download and install Background Eraser on your smartphone.
  •  After downloading the app, launch it, you will see some options like "How to Use" "Trouble shooting"  "Report a Problem" "Load a photo" etc
  • Click the Load a photo to pick the image you want from your Gallery.
  • I will advise you crop the focused part of the picture out as possible.
  • Now click done when you are done with cropping.
  • Three options will show up which are Manual, Auto, and eraser, choose the Auto option with zoom in into picture.
  • If during removing you make a mistake you can correct it by just clicking  "revert the change" the eraser can fix that out.
  • Click the done option and put the smooth level to maximum so that you get the smooth background.
  • Now click on the Finish option there, and after a little working you should be done, you have the image with the removed background!

Works like charm! Right?
