Measurements: apple ipad air 2 - audio output quality although for the most part, i am a windows and android guy, i do have a little collection of apple devices here at home.. The drop in audio quality was a real surprise to me when i went from an ipad 4 to an air 2. i don't know if it's the speakers or the ultra thin case. both the screen and the case back vibrate when i play games or have audio playing above 2-3 bars.. Compared to any other tablet, ipad air 2 sounds good, but compared to its predecessors, music sounds tinny and flat, the audio equivalent of a blurry youtube video. but it’s not all sacrifice..
The speakers in the device are minimal - the specs pictured below show that the ipad air will support aac (or mp3) to wav (the latter cd quality), so a good set of headphones and/or cabling to a regular stereo will produce a sound as good as a cd - what more do you want? and for those into audio, why expect apple to supply you w/ a quality set.
